MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, who also serves as the chair of the National Innovation Council, has approved the National Innovation Strategy and Agenda (NIASD) 2023-2032.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday, saying that NIASD outlines the country’s plan to improve “innovation governance” and establish a “dynamic innovation ecosystem.”
“The NIASD characterizes a dynamic innovation ecosystem as one that fosters a pervasive culture of innovation driven by market demands,” the PCO said.
“It facilitates collaboration through active, trusted and useful platforms, and provides innovators with the facilities and resources to transform their ideas into innovative products and services. Furthermore, it connects the innovator-entrepreneur with potential investors and funders,” he added.
The NIASD approval took place during the fifth meeting of the National Innovation Council held on Friday. In addition to the approval of the document, the selection of the seventh executive member of the National Innovation Council and the official logo of the National Innovation Council, among others, were also discussed during the meeting.
