Wild scenes erupted at a popular pedestrian mall with an alleged assault before bystanders pinned the suspect to the ground and police arrived to make an arrest.
Video from the scene showed three people fighting in the main outdoor shopping precinct of Bondi Junction in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Wednesday morning.
Cries for help rang out as bystanders rushed to help restrain a figure wearing a grey hood.
Finally, there were seven people holding the person in a kneeling position or standing over him ready to help.
“Can someone call the police? Can someone call the police?” a female voice shouted.
Five people were later seen holding the person down as sirens sounded and two police officers rushed to the scene.
More police arrived and five officers were filmed pinning what appeared to be a man with short, dark hair to the ground.
A police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that officers arrived at the scene at around 9.15am to reports of an assault.

Bystanders rushed to hold one of the fighters on the ground while a woman screamed for the police to be called.
After bystanders pinned the person to the ground, police officers took control and restrained the individual.
“Three people, a man and two women, sustained minor injuries and did not require assistance from NSW Ambulance paramedics,” the police spokesman said.
‘A man was arrested at the scene and taken to Waverley Police Station where he is assisting police with their enquiries.’
Bondi Junction Westfield shopping centre was the scene of a horrific massacre by knife attacker Joel Cauchi on April 13 in an incident that shocked the world.
Six people, five women and a security guard, were killed when Cauchi, 40, attacked people with a 30cm knife.
A nine-month-old baby was one of 12 other people stabbed before the knifeman was shot dead by New South Wales Police Inspector Amy Scott.
