Russell Hill’s daughter plans to sue the former jetstar pilot who was acquitted of the caravan murder.

Greg Lynn, 57, had pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court of Victoria to the murders of Hill, 74, and Carol Clay, 73, in the Wonnanangatta Valley in Victoria’s alpine region on 20 March 2020.

A 12-person jury unanimously found that Lynn murdered Ms. Clay in cold blood before attempting to cover her tracks by burning and destroying evidence.

However, he was acquitted of Mr Hill’s murder, paving the way for an appeal to the Supreme Court of Victoria that could see Lynn retried or released.

Hill’s daughter, Debbie Hill, has since said The age He plans to sue Lynn so that evidence that was deemed inadmissible in the criminal trial can be heard in civil court.

‘We are owed the truth. “I firmly believe the jury couldn’t convict him of Dad’s murder because they weren’t presented with much evidence,” he told the publication.

She later appeared in 3AW and said she was not interested in any financial benefit from a civil case, but rather just wanted “justice for dad.”

“(Lynn) wasn’t telling the truth before (in her police interview) and we would have liked them to tell the jury that so they could decide for themselves,” he said.

In a letter to the court, Lynn apologized to the families of Hill and Clay, but maintained his innocence and said he would appeal his conviction.

“I don’t think (the apology) was genuine,” Debbie said.

‘It was just a statement he made to appease the jury. I didn’t sense any sincerity in that at all.’

Debbie added that she and her relatives were “shocked” to discover evidence could be withheld from the jury.

‘We didn’t know that could happen. “We thought the jury would hear all the evidence,” he said.

Debbie now hopes that a lawyer can help her file a case in civil court.

‘I’m not interested in that (money) at all. “We want justice for dad,” he said.

Lynn was sentenced last week to 32 years in prison for Ms Clay’s murder, with a non-parole period of 24 years.

The disgraced pilot had counted on convincing the jury that the campers had died as a result of a tragic accident.

After his arrest, Lynn told police that Clay was accidentally killed when his shotgun went off while he and Hill struggled for control of the gun following a dispute.

Hill then fell on his own knife while attacking Lynn in a rage, Lynn said.

Lynn said he panicked and tried to hide his involvement, returning to the spot where he had dumped her remains to be cremated months later.

Mr. Hill and Mrs. Clay were teenage sweethearts who had secretly rekindled their relationship later in life.
