Bombshell new charges 44 years after grandmother was allegedly raped twice by an intruder in her home

A man will face the courts more than four decades after a beloved grandmother was supposedly attacked and raped at home.

Police accused a 69 -year -old man on Friday afternoon after an emotional supplication of information by Jessie Grace Lauder’s loved ones about two separate incidents in Newport, Melbourne, in the early 1980s.

The man of Hoppers Crossing, who was arrested in Wyndham Vale, will face the Melbourne magistrates court accused of two charges of aggravated rape, aggravated robbery, aggravated indecent aggression, rape, robbery and common aggression.

Lauder, who died in 1993, was supposedly attacked sexually for the first time on September 22, 1981, when a man armed with a knife faced the 82 -year -old woman while she was in bed.

In July 1983, a man allegedly attacked her again after strengthening the house while she prepared to go to sleep.

“Someone has entered the sanctuary of their own home not one, but twice, where it should be more protected than ever,” said Nieto Malcolm Lauder to journalists on January 14.

Earlier on Friday, the detectives of the sexual crimes brigade thanked the media and the public for providing vital information that led to arrest.

“Although Jessie is unfortunate no longer with us, this is a transcendental day for his family and, in particular, for his grandson, Malcolm, who has fought incredibly long and harshly for justice for almost 44 years for his beloved Jessie,” said the Inspector Detective Mark Burnett. saying.
