Residents have been evacuated and nearby roads have been closed after a man was arrested on suspicion of explosives offenses in a rural market town.
Several homes in the town of Belper, Derbyshire, were evacuated after police were called around 6pm on Friday evening to reports of concerns about a man’s safety.
The police searched the house and discovered a number of suspicious objects.
The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of explosives offences, Derbyshire Police said.
Police closed off several residential roads around the Acorn Drive address, with a 100-yard cordon on the advice of bomb disposal experts.
