A bodybuilder’s wife has died after he allegedly left her with brain injuries, broken ribs and a broken shoulder blade following a vicious attack.
Marcela Luise, 31, spent 10 days unconscious in an intensive care unit at the Santa Monica Hospital, in Brazil, after the alleged brutal attack at the hands of her husband while her daughter was at school.
Bodybuilder Igor Porto Brandao, who took her to hospital, was quickly arrested on suspicion of femicide after it was discovered that Marcela had suffered traumatic brain injuries, broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade and bruising all over her face and body.
Igor claimed that his wife had suffered serious injuries after falling while cleaning at home.
But the mother was pronounced dead on Monday night after spending an agonizing week in hospital fighting for her life.

Igor was remanded in custody pending an ongoing criminal investigation.
Muscle man Igor, who is said to have a history of domestic violence against Marcela and a former partner, was arrested last Friday after an autopsy said his alleged victim’s injuries were not consistent with a fall.
The hospital’s medical team called the police specialized in assistance to women (DEAM), who began investigations into Igor.
In an interview with TV Anhanguera, the investigator said: “The hospital contacted the police station informing them that there were multiple injuries, which do not correspond to a fall.”
“He suffered a traumatic brain injury on both sides of his head and at the base of his skull, he fractured his collarbone, eight ribs and had several bruises on his body.”
He was in pretrial detention pending an ongoing criminal investigation.
Police chief Bruna Coelho said before her arrest: “She told the medical team that she was cleaning the house when she slipped and fell.
‘According to him he suffered convulsions and the injuries were caused by the fall.
“He said he bathed her and took her to the hospital, where she was immediately taken to the operating room for surgery before being transferred to an intensive care unit.”
He went on to describe the bodybuilder as someone with an “explosive and aggressive temper” who had also had fights with a neighbor and a supermarket worker.
The tragic news of Marcela’s death was confirmed today to the local press by her aunt Fernanda Paula Miranda.
Speaking to a Brazilian television channel, while her niece was still fighting for her life in intensive care, Fernanda said: “She was not working and he controlled her.”
“He often told her that she was not a good mother, that she didn’t know how to do anything, he insulted her and humiliated her.”
Igor had more than 12,000 followers on his Instagram page, where he presented himself as a nutritionist and fitness trainer, before the account was closed on Sunday.
