Residents found the body of a British man four days after he went missing on a nature walk in Jamaica.
Robert Dyer, 60, a diabetic, who arrived on the Caribbean island last Friday was found unconscious on Thursday in a vegetated area by a search party, in the Ballard Valley area of St Elizabeth, Jamaica.
The grandfather and cancer survivor had been without life-saving medications for a heart condition, Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure for days since taking the solo nature walk Sunday morning in Ballards Valley, two days after his retirement.
Mr Dyer, from Lewisham, had been there to visit his brother and his family.
According to Jamaica Observer Online, he last contacted his relatives around 1:00 pm on Monday to tell them he was missing.
A source close to the family said Dyer’s cane was found around 2 a.m. Thursday and his body was found later that day.

“People found his cane and decided they were going to leave early Thursday to continue the search,” the source said. They added that his body “was found near Bull Savannah, so it appears he took a wrong turn.”
A local community spokesperson confirmed that a body had been found and that police will investigate the circumstances of her death.
‘After an extensive search involving many people in the community, we found an unresponsive body.
“The police have been notified and may issue a statement later,” the spokesperson said.
On Tuesday, Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, said Ballards Valley citizens, the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) airway and canine division were assisting in the search.
It is understood 250 residents joined the search party.
“We have already covered miles of terrain and the search is still ongoing as we continue our efforts to locate this individual,” he said.
Minto said Wednesday that dozens of police officers were part of the search team.
He said drones were also used during the search.
