Two teenagers have been arrested following the tragic discovery of the burned body of an 18-year-old woman in a car. Malachi Pressley and Taylor Kinard, both 19, were arrested Friday after MyAngel Walker’s remains were found on the side of a road in Greenwood County, South Carolina.
Walker, a recent Laurens High School graduate, was reported missing on Dec. 12 after she didn’t show up for work at NHC Healthcare, according to carolina fox.
According to local reports from WHNS, police revealed that Pressley, MyAngel’s on-again, off-again ex-boyfriend, shot her before Kinard helped him dispose of her remains. “She was aware of it and she helped,” Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison told the outlet of Kinard’s involvement.
Pressley now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, while Kinard has been charged with accessory after the fact.
MyAngel’s heartbroken mother, Sade Woodruff, described her daughter’s relationship with Pressley as tumultuous in the weeks before her disappearance. Speaking to WHNS, she urged women in similar situations to seek help. “Anyone going through any type of domestic dispute, being abused, anything, get away.
If you can, stay away.” In another emotional interview with WYFFSade reflected on the loss of her daughter: “We don’t expect justice, because we know we will get it for MyAngel. She didn’t deserve that. You know, it was definitely different. And it shows you, you know, some of the things that happen here in this world.”
MyAngel’s death has shaken his community, prompting heartfelt tributes. Laurens District 55 College, where MyAngel graduated, expressed their grief in a Facebook post:
“This is a post we never wanted to make and we pray we never have to make it again. MyAngel Walker was an important and wonderful part of the GEAR UP family. “We are going to miss his laugh, his hugs and his ability to always do what he was doing well.”
The school praised the community for coming together to support MyAngel’s family during this unimaginable tragedy, writing, “We are SO proud of all of you for how you have supported each other and his family over the past few days.”
As Pressley and Kinard face legal proceedings, MyAngel’s family and friends continue to mourn the loss of a young life taken too soon.
