Bob McGrath, who was one of the original stars of Sesame Street, has passed away at the age of 91.

McGrath appeared in the pilot in 1969 and went on to star for another 47 seasons.

The family shared the news of the actor’s death on their official Facebook page.

‘Our father, Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully in his house, surrounded by his family.

McGrath finally stopped performing on Sesame Street with his latest episode titled Have a Ball.

McGrath directed children’s lessons through his puppets and also wrote original themes for the production, including People in Your Neighborhood, Sing a Song, If You’re Happy And You Know It, and the theme song for Sesame Street.
