The Strawberry Hill Hotel, visited by Bob Marley and featured in the 2024 film ‘Bob Marley: One Love’, is officially on the market.
The 47-hectare mountaintop was built on a coffee plantation and belonged to a British royal family in the eighteenth century.
It was named by its deemed original owner Horace Walpore, who was the son of Prime Minister Robert Walpore, who was in office from 1721 to 1742.
Despite the hotel being on the market for an undisclosed price, travelers looking to spend time in St. Andrew, Jamaica, still staying at the luxury resort while on vacation, New York Post reported.

The hotel was named for its reputed original owner Horace Walpore, who was the son of Prime Minister Robert Walpore, who was in office from 1721 to 1742. According to the hotel’s website, Horace discovered that “the elevation of the property was ideal for growing strawberries.”
It became a foreign officer’s umbilical hospital in the late eighteenth century and was later owned by prominent families such as the Cargills and DaCostas.
The property was eventually purchased by its current owner and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell in the 1970s and became the place Marley recovered after he was nearly murdered on December 3, 1976.
“I used to come here for Sunday tea with my mum when I was a little boy and I’ve always had a sentimental feeling about this place,” Blackwell said. The Guardian back in 2000.
Jamaican architect Ann Hodges was hired by Blackwell after he began planning to develop the property.
She used popular pitched roofs, decorative designs on wood and large roof overhangs in her designs.
The property currently has 13 all-white summer houses and the option to look after 16 more villas.

There are currently 13 all-white cabins at the resort. Each was modeled after Jamaican chattels, which are small and movable wooden houses built without nails. The furniture is different in all the cabins, but the all-white interiors are designed to give ‘a modern feel to the neo-colonial, romantic style of the furniture’
There are currently five different room options at the Strawberry Hill Hotel: the Studio Suite, the Studio Cottage, the One Bedroom Villa, the Two Bedroom Cottage and the Two Bedroom Villa
The amount of cabins the hotel has is convenient for vacationers who want to get married or host other events on the property.
Tourists who decide to explore the hotel will also find an infinity pool and a helipad.
Anyone in the property hoping to unwind can also access one of five treatment rooms in the hotel’s spa.
They can also visit the hotel’s restaurant, which serves traditional Jamaican dishes such as lamb curry and fish stew.
An even greater way for visitors to connect to the history behind the Strawberry Hill Hotel is to visit the site’s Coffee Plantation at Craighton House Coffee Estate.
The hotel is currently promoting a Craighton House Coffee Estate Hiking and walkingwhere vacationers can either hike alone or pay $20 for a talk and tour of the estate.
Vacationers can enjoy beautiful views from the resort’s infinity pool. It is one of the many features that hotel guests have access to. The hotel also has a helipad and spa that has five treatment rooms for anyone hoping to unwind
Hotel guests can also stop by the bar when looking for a drink, which is located near the resort’s restaurant
One of the first scenes of ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ shows the events of the assassination attempt on the singer, his wife, Rita Marley, his manager Don Taylor and another band member Louis Griffiths.
All survived the shooting and Marley retreated to the Strawberry Hill Hotel soon after before recording new music.
Marley was one of many famous musicians who stayed at the Strawberry Hill Hotel.
