‘What the hell is Wilder talking about?’: Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum accuses Deontay of accusing the Gypsy King of ‘lying’ about testing positive for Covid-19 to get out of their trilogy fight before it was rescheduled
- Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will face each other for the third time next month
- The fight was originally scheduled to take place in July before Fury pulled out
- Fury tested positive for Covid-19 two weeks before the fight was to take place
- Wilder has accused Fury of ‘lying’ about the test to get out of the fight
- However, Bob Arum has criticized Wilder for his allegations around Fury
Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has lashed out at Deontay Wilder following the American’s allegations that the Gypsy King tried to get out of the fray by testing positive for Covid-19.
The pair will face each other for the third time in Las Vegas on October 9 with the Bronze Bomber who is out to avenge his February 2020 defeat to Fury.
They were originally scheduled to meet in July just for the Gypsy King to test positive for Covid two weeks before the fight was set to take place.

Wilder has criticized Fury for “lying” about the test to try and get out of their trilogy fight.
In response to Wilder, Arum said: BoxingScene.com: ‘I do not know what’ [Wilder] believes or what he does not believe.
“But what he should at least look at is the fact that when he got Covid, Fury immediately contacted the commission, or someone did, and the commission’s doctors examined him and diagnosed him with Covid.

The pair were originally scheduled to fight back in July before the Gypsy King pulled out
“So, what the hell is Wilder talking about? I mean, it’s not like a fighter is outside and says, ‘I need a reprieve because I sprained my leg while jogging.’ Then there are always questions: ‘Was he really hurt?’ Blah, blah, blah.
“But here it is something that can be fully checked with the committee. So why would he believe me, Wilder? He shouldn’t. Why would he believe Fury? If he doesn’t want to, he shouldn’t. But look at the committee that has no motive at all to lie.”
The heavyweight American is adamant that Fury will explore every avenue to evade their scheduled fight and this week demanded that he be given the WBC world belt and his full salary if the Manchester heavyweight pulls out.
An enraged Wilder told 78SPORT TV: “I’m just tired of the lies. That’s all it is, lies.
‘That’s what I believe. And many other people do too – the whole world believes it’s nothing but lies.
“And it really makes me sick to hear that because so many people have died from COVID.

“People I know have had relatives who have died from it. Hearing others use this as an excuse to get out of something is just a horrible man.’
He continued: ‘May they burn in hell for that. Especially for something like that. Because the guy said he had COVID, you see him in so many different places the next moment. It’s just ridiculous.
“He’s been trying to run away from me since last July. He paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to try to avoid me.
“They came up with so many excuses to try and avoid me. They contradict themselves so much and it’s just ridiculous at this point. You have to stop or shut up.’
Fury looked set to face British heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua before being tasked with fighting Wilder as part of their trilogy deal.
Both the Gypsy King and Wilder have not fought since Fury’s win over the American in February 2020.
