The Chrysler SRT V8 sedan, which makes up about a third of the highway patrol’s fleet, has been plagued with mechanical problems since its inception.

Highway patrol officers nicknamed the vehicle ‘The Valiant’, a nod to its Chrysler heritage and sketchy reliability.
Factory new BMW ‘police pack’ vehicles are prepared for the installation of emergency equipment, with an upgraded electrical system and high-performance brakes included.
In addition, the BMW X5 gives officers an enhanced vantage point of oncoming traffic, making it easier to identify drivers using mobile phones or passengers not wearing seatbelts.
The elevated seating position of the BMW X5 also improves officers’ safety in the event of a T-bone collision with a red-light runner, as they are sitting higher than they would in a lower sedan.
