Blue Mountains, New South Wales: Grim discovery three months after man suddenly vanished

The search for a man who disappeared without a trace three months ago ended in tragedy after his body was found in a national park.

The 52-year-old man was last seen at a home in Lilyfield, in Sydney’s inner-west, on March 17.

He was reported missing when his friends and loved ones were unable to contact him.

It was believed the man may have gone to the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.

A member of the public contacted police after finding human remains in the Blue Mountains National Park last Wednesday.

A police investigation was launched and a crime scene was established.

New South Wales Police confirmed the identity of the remains on Tuesday.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
