Sales at Bloomsbury have soared thanks to the craze for romance novels.

The trend was set by Bloomsbury author Sarah J. Maas, whose romantic fantasy book series Throne Of Glass and A Court Of Thorns and Roses have disappeared from shelves.

The publisher has also benefited from the ‘Book Tok’ phenomenon, in which social media influencers use Tik Tok to promote new books and authors.

Bloomsbury, best known for the Harry Potter books, is expected to record annual sales of £329 million next week. This will be a record figure and will double the amount earned before the pandemic.

The group was heralded as a Covid success story, taking advantage of Brits stuck at home turning to books and audiobooks for solace.
