Every week, FEMAIL asks two singles to report on their blind date.

This week, it was Tiane and Kevin who were wined and dined.

Tiane, 58 years old

Vital Statistics

Single with two daughters, 21 and 24 years old.

Current role

Owner of a wine cellar.

I would like to know

A silver fox, but it doesn’t have to be classically handsome; I don’t mind having a belly. It has to be fun though.

Past dates?

I was with my children’s father for 20 years, although we did not marry and separated in 2016. I was in an on-off relationship for four years with my last partner but we broke up for good in November 2022. I haven’t really dated much since then.

Pre-date nerves?

I was pretty nervous since it’s been a while. I don’t normally wear dresses, but I decided on a green floral dress and wedge shoes, and I felt good.

First impressions?

Kevin seemed friendly, but I knew he wasn’t my type. He has beautiful eyes, but I tend to prefer larger men: he has a slim build and I feel huge next to him. Still, we shook hands and he talked, so we felt comfortable.

Is he easy to talk to?

I’m not sure if he was just nervous, but he was talking so much I wasn’t breathing for the first 20 minutes. Kevin is a loving man who cared for his mother for several years before her death.

He told me a lot about himself and his work, but it was a while before he asked me any questions. I didn’t get the impression that he was interested in me or my life. I’d say 80 percent of the quote was about him.

Embarrassing moments?

Not really, no.

Did sparks fly?

For me, not at all, and I don’t think Kevin felt anything either. He wasn’t flirtatious and I had to stifle a yawn or two, partly because the date seemed forced. He didn’t help matters by talking mainly about himself. I usually like men who make me laugh, while my last partner had me the moment he smiled at me for the first time. Sometimes the connection is just there, but more often it is not. It’s no one’s fault.

She said that no sparks flew for her at all and she doesn't think Kevin felt anything either.

Would you like to see it again?

It wouldn’t make sense. We had a lovely lunch, but there was no banter or real connection, so I can’t imagine keeping in touch.

What do you think he thought of you?

I don’t know. He made no comments or compliments and didn’t seem interested in me at all. In fact, his eyes never lit up and he didn’t flirt with me even once. He asked for my number as we were leaving, but I think it was just out of courtesy. I knew he wouldn’t call and I would never see him again.

Would your family and friends like it?

He’s a good man with a kind smile, but my whole family is pretty eccentric and fun, so I think he’d be too blunt and humorless to fit in.

Tiane’s verdict

APPRECIATED? He was talkative and a gentleman.

REGRETS? No.

COFFEE OR TAXI? Taxi.

Kevin, 61 years old

Vital statistics

Divorced, no children.

Current role

Actor and security worker for events.

I would like to know

A fun, positive, healthy woman who is not obsessed with herself or looking for a man who contributes everything without contributing anything.

Kevin, 61, is divorced with no children and currently works as an actor and event security worker.

Past dates?

I married in 1989 and divorced in 1996, but we never had children. I’ve had a couple of relationships since then, but in recent years I’ve mainly focused on work and taking full-time care of my mother.

Pre-date nerves?

I’m never really nervous and I enjoy meeting people, so I don’t feel too fazed. I was wearing a navy blue suit and a pink shirt to get ready. I normally dress casually, but I’m happy to dress up for a special occasion.

First impressions?

Tiane was upbeat, very professional, motivated and energetic. She said she was nervous, but she didn’t seem that way. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the date I realized that I was not romantically attracted to her.

Is he easy to talk to?

She was very easy to chat with and the conversation went well. We’re both self-employed, so we talked about our jobs and how frustrating it can be when you recruit and train someone and find out they’re not enough. I wasn’t surprised when Tiane said he was starting a new business, because he really wants to get going.

We jumped around a bit, but it felt light and natural. We probably didn’t have much in common, although it turns out we both worked with the same guy in the film industry.

Kevin said Tiane was “upbeat, very professional, motivated and energetic.”

You are welcome.

Did sparks fly?

It reminded me of the TV show First Dates, where they get along but have no magic. I enjoyed the date and Tiane is great company, but no fires were lit. I’m normally flirty when I feel a connection, but I felt like neither of us had that vibe. I think it was a fact that we didn’t like each other.

Would you like to find it again?

I would love to do it, but not romantically. I asked for her number so I could share a photo of our date on social media. I will also tell people about your new wine bar and send clients your way. But I doubt we’ll stay in touch.

What do you think she thought of you?

I would say the same, since she gave me no indication that she was interested. We left together and said goodbye with a friendly hug.

Would your family and friends like it?

I think so: she is very active and has a great sense of humor. But I think they would know that she has too much energy for me.

Kevin’s verdict 8/10

APPRECIATED? She was motivated and ran her own business.

REGRETS? None.

COFFEE OR TAXI? Taxi.
