New South Wales State Crime Command Chief Detective Superintendent Jason Weinstein said the crackdown provided a greater understanding of the footprint of interstate cyclists.
NSW State Crime Command Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Weinstein said the crackdown gave a better idea of the footprint of interstate cyclists.
“Understanding the activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs in cross-border cities is critical to cracking down on organized crime in our regions,” he said.
“Cross-border crime is ever-present, with the lure of drug trafficking pushing organized crime figures out of the city and into regional towns, believing they are safe and out of the constant attention of law enforcement.
“That couldn’t be further from the truth: We will continue to implement these cross-border operations to prevent, disrupt, and respond to organized crime in our state.”
Victoria Police Detective Superintendent Jason Kelly said future similar operations involving the two police forces were on the drawing board.
“There may be a perception that it is easier to hide in the countryside,” he added. ‘That is simply not true.

‘Make no mistake: this is a warning from the VIPER Taskforce, along with Raptor Squad and our other partners.
‘If you are involved in organized criminal activity, you will be detected and held to account, regardless of state border.
“This is the first time we’ve worked together on an operation like this, but it certainly won’t be the last.”
The NSW Crime Commission and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission were also involved in the operation.
