Bryson DeChambeau thought he was alone as his coach stretched him at the US Open

Bryson DeChambeau wanted a private moment away from the camera for his coach to extend in the middle of the third round of the US Open on Saturday.

He asked the cameras not to follow him, but NBC used a drone to get an overhead shot of the clubhouse leader and his coach making DeChambeau feel his best.

Any stretch that occurred in the woods clearly helped DeChambeau, as he hit his longest drive of the day on his next swing.

A strong approach on the 11th hole helped DeChambeau make birdie on the par-4 hole.

DeChambeau has had a great run at Pinehurst, holding a multi-stroke lead for most of the final stretch of Saturday’s round.

It’s unclear whether DeChambeau was told in the middle of his round that NBC flew a drone over what was intended to be a private stretching session.

DeChambeau hopes to close out his second major tournament victory on Sunday, after nearly accomplishing the feat at last month’s PGA Championship.

DeChambeau finished in second place behind Xander Schauffele after a phenomenal final round.

Now in Pinehurst. DeChambeau will likely play from the front rather than trying to chase the leader.

DeChambeau’s other previous major victory came at the 2020 US Open, meaning he has never won a major tournament, not in the midst of a pandemic that imposed limits on public attendance.

The most likely challengers to upset DeChambeau’s second major victory appear to be the trio of Rory McIlroy, Matthieu Pavon and Patrick Cantlay.
