A musician has recalled the horrifying moment when a huge horde of moths took up residence in his hotel room.
Emily Rink, 23, and her brother Konrad were on holiday in New South Wales from Queensland and had left the hotel windows open while they were away.
The brothers returned later that night to find hundreds of moths flying around both rooms, crawling on the walls and ceilings with no way to get rid of them.
Ms Rink said Konrad was indifferent to the situation and was tricking her into staying in the room.
“I noticed more and more moths coming in and my brother wasn’t reacting too much… He was just chilling and watching TV,” she told Daily Mail Australia.
“Then I went into his room and it was like 20 times worse, and he still didn’t do anything.”
Ms Rink recalled running her fingers through her hair and four of the bugs fell off, prompting her to seek help from hotel staff.
“The guy just opened the door and got more nervous than we were,” Rink said.
Australian musician Emily Rink (pictured) has recalled the shocking moment she and her brother encountered a swarm of moths in their hotel rooms while on holiday in New South Wales.
They tried to blow the moths out of the room with a leaf blower before attempting to attract them with a flashlight, but to no avail.
At the end of her patience, Ms Rink was fully prepared to “sleep in the hallway” before staff offered to put them in different rooms.
Although she happily accepted the offer, Konrad preferred to stay in the moth-filled room rather than be closer to “noisy backpackers.”
Ms Rink said the situation would have been worse if she had been with someone other than her brother, who instead made it “really quite fun”.
“They were falling on his head and everything, and he just wanted to sleep after having gone surfing like six times that day,” he said.
The musician recorded his brother’s indifferent reaction and posted it on TikTok where it quickly went viral.
Ms Rink said her brother Konrad (both pictured) was far less concerned about the situation and even refused an offer to move rooms despite moths crawling over his head.
Ms Rink said four moths fell out of her hair and she asked a staff member for help, who managed to find her another room to stay the night.
Onlookers expressed shock at the savage situation.
“I honestly think there are fewer moths outside,” wrote one.
Another commented: “I’m not afraid of moths, but I couldn’t sleep with so many in the room.”
A third wrote: “I would have cried if I saw a moth, there are too many moths to be calm.”
Other viewers praised Konrad for his calm reaction and his efforts to calm his sister.
“Tell him he can sleep there and you can take his room,” one viewer suggested.
Another asked: ‘Why is he acting like he brought them and is trying to convince you to keep them?’
