A driver who bumped into a tree in the middle of the night was shot in the face.

The incident occurred just before 2.15am on Thursday at Waterloo Corner, on the northern rural outskirts of Adelaide.

SA police said a 43-year-old man from Wall Flat “was found with facial injuries consistent with the shot.”

Agents went to a house on Dunn Road where two residents were removed from the house.

They are currently looking for the suspect, but it is believed that both the victim and the suspect know each other.

The victim is treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Royal Adelaide Hospital.
