Tragedy when a nine-year-old girl drowns during a family camping trip

The nine-year-old girl died near the Bivouac Junction camp grounds, some 30km east of Charters Towers, a rural town in north Queensland, on July 8.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the elementary school-age girl in critical condition. Despite her best efforts, she could not be revived.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed to 9News that paramedics attended a drowning incident last Saturday.
A QPS spokesperson said: “Police are preparing a coroner’s report following the drowning death of a child at Bivouac Junction Road Dotswood on 8 July.”
Police are still in contact with the girl’s family.
