But the blunder is not the first recent mishap committed by a BBC presenter on air.
BBC news presenter Maryam Moshiri was also caught in an on-air mishap in December when she flashed the middle finger before withdrawing her hand, adopting more appropriate behavior as she began reading the headlines.
In December, BBC news presenter Maryam Moshiri went viral after she was caught giving her middle finger directly to the camera, without realizing it was already live.
The presenter then tried to quickly switch to professional mode and began reading the headlines, announcing: “Live from London, this is the BBC news.”
But the viral moment was created instantly and the clip began to spread across the internet, prompting Maryam to apologize and explain that she had been having an “inside joke” with her team before the show began.
The BBC later released the full clip of the moment showing he had counted from 10 fingers to one in a simulated countdown.
