Birmingham sack Lee Bowyer after disappointing Championship campaign
Lee Bowyer is POSTED by crisis club Birmingham City after just 16 months in charge… with St Andrew’s chiefs wielding the ax after Saturday morning training
- Lee Bowyer took over as manager of Birmingham City in March 2021
- In his only full season, Birmingham finished 20th in the Championship
- After their disappointing campaign last term, he was fired by the board
- His 16-month stint in charge came to an end after Saturday’s training
Birmingham City have sacked manager Lee Bowyer, ending his 16-month stint at St Andrew’s.
The Blues finished two spots above the championship relegation spots last season, but were helped by Derby and Reading who both deducted points during the campaign.
The players returned for season preparation earlier this week and the Birmingham board wasted little time relieving Bowyer when they informed the 45-year-old of their decision after Saturday morning’s training.
