Birmingham and Blackburn are among a host of clubs interested in signing free agent Jack Payne.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Bradford, is weighing up his options as his contract with Huddersfield expires this summer.

New Blues caretaker Pep Clotet worked with Payne at Oxford during the 2017-18 campaign, while the ex-Southend star also spent time on loan at Rovers last year.

A number of League One clubs are also keen on the attacking midfielder after he managed nine goals in all competitions last season.

Lincoln, Bolton, MK Dons and Oxford have all shown interest in Payne, who spent time at Tottenham’s academy before joining Southend’s Under 15s.

He played 23 games in the Championship as Huddersfield were promoted to the Premier League in 2016-17, scoring twice.

Payne went on to enjoy successful loan spells at the Kassam Stadium and Ewood Park but is now considering his next permanent move.
