Bindi has just become a mother herself and welcomed her first child with husband Chandler Powell, 24, in March.

Their daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell was born on their first wedding anniversary.

Grace’s middle names are a tribute to Bindi’s late father Steve, who coined the term ‘Wildlife Warrior’ to promote his conservation efforts at Australia Zoo.

Steve died in September 2006 at the age of 44, after being hit in the chest by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary in Queensland.

Last month, Bindi burst into tears over her grief that her dad would never meet her newborn baby Grace, in a preview for the Crikey family’s new show! It’s a baby! on Animal Planet.

In the footage, Bindi – along with husband Chandler Powell, brother Robert and mother Terri – took baby Grace to Australia Zoo’s ‘Crocoseum’ where Steve would happily ‘feed the crocodiles and spend time as a family’.

Thinking about the special moment, Bindi, 22, said: ‘It’s hard to know she’s never going to actually meet him, and it’s devastating because I’ll never see that connection.

“But I can’t wait to tell beautiful Grace all these stories about Daddy and share with her what a wonderful father he was.”

When Bindi started to get emotional, she added, “It’s going to be very special. It will be very special for her to get to know him and tell her what a wonderful man he was. ‘

Through tears, she added that Steve would have loved “Grace the most” of “anyone in the world.”

“But I think in a sense he is still with us and his heart and soul live on in all of us. He’s never really gone, ‘she added.
