Did I take her number down wrong... or did she give me a duff one? It's NOT a match on this week's Blind Date when personal trainer Conrad met PR manager Beki

Beki, 31 years old

VITAL STATISTICS

Single for two years, without children.

CURRENT ROLE

Head of digital public relations.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET

An emotionally sophisticated man. He knows what he wants, he is kind, tall and handsome. . . and maybe a little ambitious.

APPOINTMENT PAST

I’ve always been a relationship girl, but I seem to attract commitment-phobes, the kind of guys who take you for granted.

I was happily single in my twenties, but now I’m ready to get back out there and hopefully find the right relationship.

NERVES BEFORE THE DATE?

Yes, I haven’t had a date in a while and I spend most of my time with my poodle Rusty.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

I was already sitting at our table with a glass of white wine when I saw Conrad. Well, first I saw his shirt, a colorful floral garment. He was a little nervous so we greeted him and then I let him settle in at the table.

EASY TO SPEAK TO?

Yes, we talk about everything from our careers to past relationships. We bonded over the emotionally draining experience of both dating a narcissist. Conrad is funny and he told a lot of jokes, some I understood and some I didn’t. But I laughed anyway.

He’s a personal trainer, but not your typical Joe Wicks; He has a much older clientele.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

Conrad told me he wanted an Elvis tattoo on his arm and then started singing an Elvis song quite loudly.

He also involved our neighbors at the next table in the process of lighting the rum in our puddings. I suspect they were simply being polite and nodding.

DID SPARKS FLY?

No. Conrad is a lovely guy but he had no attraction for me. He needs an outgoing woman who accepts all of his quirks. He flirted with me throughout the meal. He said she liked my outfit and he winked at me several times. As we walked to the station, he asked me if she could put her arm around me and I said no, thank you. He replied, ‘Oh, you’re that kind of girl,’ which he wasn’t sure how to take.

SEE IT AGAIN?

He asked me if I wanted to and I said, ‘Take my number.’ But she hasn’t called.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

Conrad seemed interested in me and told me I had pretty eyes. There were some other compliments too: he was very flirtatious.

WOULD YOUR FRIENDS LIKE IT?

I do not think. They would be confused as to why I was with him. He’s not the kind of person I normally prefer.

BEKI VERDICT: 5/10

APPRECIATED? Conrado made me laugh.

REGRETS? No, it’s good to have a date.

COFFEE OR TAXI? Coffee.

Conrad, 28

VITAL STATISTICS

Single for six months, without children.

CURRENT ROLE

Personal trainer and online physical trainer.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET

Someone with their feet on the ground and a good heart, who ideally likes the gym or running.

APPOINTMENT PAST

I’ve had two serious relationships, but neither worked. Online dating hasn’t helped: I’ve been cheated on, cheated on, and stood up. But I know that one day the right person will come along.

NERVES BEFORE THE DATE?

No, I don’t expect to meet my future wife, but I do hope to meet a great girl.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

Beki had a nice dress. She has a charming smile and dark hair. Each of us told the other that they looked good, but our table was too cramped for me to lean over or for Beki to get up to hug him. Instead, we shook hands.

EASY TO SPEAK TO?

We talked about the gym. Beki prefers cross training, while I’m more of a traditional weight training guy. However, we both like to run; Beki is working on running a 5k and I have the Leeds Half Marathon this year. As for music, Beki is a ‘Swiftie’ and has tickets to see her this summer. I’m more of an ’80s fan. When I teach spin classes, I love the Baywatch soundtrack to go up hills; There is nothing better than that.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

Well, I talked to the table next to me out of embarrassment when the waiter showed up to set Beki’s crepe and my sticky toffee pudding on fire. I observed that: “You don’t get this in County Durham.”

DID SPARKS FLY?

There was a bit of flirting on my part. And it was Beki’s idea to exchange numbers, but unfortunately I got hers wrong and I haven’t been able to get in touch. It crossed my mind that he gave me a fake number.

SEE HER AGAIN?

I would like to. We are both Harry Potter fans; She already took the tour of the studio and I said, ‘So you’re my guide.’ After three hours, I walked her to the station and hugged her goodbye.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I think Beki thinks I’m pretty nice. She was in no hurry to escape.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY LIKE IT?

Yes. Beki is from East Sussex and speaks correctly; She is not an ordinary person. Her voice is lovely and I know my parents would love it.

CONRAD VERDICT: 8/10

APPRECIATED? Beki is a pretty girl.

REGRETS? Getting Beki’s number wrong.

COFFEE OR TAXI? Coffee.
