Billie Faiers’ fashion label hits back at the customer who accuses them of ‘ripping off’ the designer

Billie Faiers’ fashion label Minnie’s Boutique has hit back at a client after claiming the brand had ‘ripped off’ Olivia Rubin with a £ 38 rainbow dress.

In a scathing comment, the brand appeared to be hitting back on a fan’s claim that they copied one of Olivia’s £ 250 dresses after Billie posed in the Minnie’s Rainbow midi for a post on Instagram Stories.

This isn’t the first time fans have accused Billie’s brand of ‘tearing off’ Olivia’s designs, as in January the star’s £ 40 rainbow vest looked eerily similar to a £ 250 piece from Olivia’s range.

On Sunday, Billie shared a snap wearing the striking rainbow pastel midi dress as she celebrated Easter with her family.

Billie shared a photo of the dress on Instagram Stories, writing: ‘Our beautiful rainbow is back and is now available for pre-order.’

The star also shared a second image of the dress on her grid as she showed off the brand new patio in her garden.

Among the comments, one fan commented, “Wow, it’s exactly like Olivia Rubin’s, was going through her again?”

But it was a comment on the official Minnie’s Boutique account that sparked a fiery response, with the label furiously denying that any of their designs was a copy.

The comment said, ‘This is another copy of an Olivia Rubin dress! Why do you keep ripping off small designers? !!! Shocking Behavior. ‘

The Minnie’s Boutique account then hit back, ‘I’m sorry, no, isn’t it? Get your facts straight before you start writing on our post !!

And learn about fashion and how the fashion world works. Thank you.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Billie Faiers and Olivia Rubin for further comment.

In January, Billie was also charged with ‘tearing’ Olivia’s £ 250 rainbow vest with a £ 40 Minnie’s Boutique version.

The star was criticized by the designer herself, who urged her to “have some originality” and said it was “another level” of copying.

Olivia is famous for her rainbow aesthetic, specializing in knits, sequins and satin fabrics, with the most famous designer charging hundreds of pounds each.

The designer took to Instagram Stories to compare Billie’s MyNelly cardigan with pastel stripes and pearl buttons, which retails for £ 40 with her own £ 250 Mika design.

Olivia wrote, “I don’t normally repost copies, but I see it more and more; celebrities and other brands who buy our clothes to rip them off! This is just another level. Have some originality. ‘

She shared a second image of the two cardigans side by side and wrote, “The colors, sequins, even down to the buttons.”

The Minnie’s Boutique cardigan is from a factory supplier.

The factory has confirmed with MailOnline that a garment needs six to seven different elements to be far enough from another product on the market that can be classified as comparable.

Hence, this vest meets all legal requirements to be on sale and is in no way a form of plagiarism as the two pieces are clearly very different.

Billie’s design has a different color but sequins run through the knit, just like Olivia’s. And hers has pearl flower knots, while Olivia’s is diamond flowers.

A Billie spokesperson declined to comment on MailOnline, and Olivia Rubin declined to comment.

In September 2019, Billie released an InTheStyle range featuring a one-shoulder swimsuit, like the Norma Kamali swimsuit she’d worn on her hen.

And the sexy song was very similar to the popular £ 225 Norma Kamali Mio version Billie wore on her chicken.

No doubt the Dancing On Ice contestant wanted to make something inclusive for fans who might not be able to reach for the designer price tags, with her version coming in at just £ 22.

However, it remains to be seen what Norma Kamali thinks of how similar the two items are.
