Bill Maher slammed liberal “bullies” who attacked Robert Kennedy Jr.’s wife over her husband’s support for Donald Trump.
The comedian condemned “nasty” critics of actress Cheryl Hines during a segment on his show Real Time.
Hines’ husband recently dropped out of his own election campaign and endorsed Trump, prompting a flood of angry posts directed at the star.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm actress, a lifelong Democrat, has not publicly addressed RFK’s loyalties, however, RFK Jr. told TMZ he expressed “concern” about her decision.
“There’s an ugliness to it that they didn’t have before,” Maher fumed. “The liberals that I respected as a kid, none of them are like that. They go for the wife. Even the mob doesn’t do that.”

‘There are a lot of people these days who I call liberal in theory. In theory, they hate harassment. It’s terrible. In practice, their attitude is: “It’s not harassment when I stick your head in the toilet.”‘
Hines was inundated with aggressive messages, particularly from actor Bradley Whitford.
‘Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband supports convicted rapist who brags about stripping women of their basic rights,’ Whitford wrote on X.
Other messages included posts encouraging Hines to “do better” and several vowing to boycott shows she appears on.
“RFK, you are a disgrace to the Kennedy name. Your father and uncle are rolling in their graves. How the hell is your wife still with you? @CherylHines you support a rapist and a liar,” one person wrote.

Hines is a lifelong Democrat who has not spoken publicly about her husband’s decision to back Trump.
“You and Bobby can go fuck yourself. I would have voted for the brain worm earlier,” said another.
But the “West Wing” actor in particular found himself the target of Maher’s fury.
“In theory, liberals are compassionate. In practice, this guy (Bradley Whitford) can’t even understand one of the most basic dilemmas that all human beings have: that when you’re married, you sometimes have to put up with some bullshit,” Maher ranted.
RFK suspended his campaign in late August in ten of the most competitive states, including the seven key states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
RFK Jr. appeared at Trump’s rally in Arizona that day and endorsed his candidacy.
He was also named co-chair of Trump’s transition team alongside the former president’s two sons, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance.

But the Democratic presidential candidate-turned-independent faces a hurdle in North Carolina, because the state has already printed its ballots and will begin sending them out this week for absentee and early voting.
He has now sued at least three states that refuse to remove his name. Wisconsin and Michigan have also refused permission.
However, Kennedy has managed to successfully withdraw from elections in other battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona.
He previously posted that he would never join Trump on a ticket, citing fundamental differences on key policy issues and claiming their “leadership philosophies” couldn’t be more different, while joking that doing so would be ‘devastating’ to their marriage.
