One of Bill and Melinda Gates’s daughters described “a difficult time” for the family in an emotional post about her parents’ divorce.

“I will not personally comment on the divorce, but please know that your kind words and support mean everything to me,” she wrote.
Jennifer is the eldest of Bill and Melinda’s three children, followed by Rory’s 21-year-old son and Phoebe’s 18-year-old daughter.

She attended Stanford and took a year off to focus on her equestrian career, before enrolling at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine in New York.
As a show jumper, Jennifer competed against the offspring of other famous parents, including Steve Jobs’ daughter Eve and Michael Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina, as well as Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica, and Steven Spielberg’s daughter Destry.
Jennifer is engaged to the Egyptian rider Nayel Nassar.
Her comments came when the Gates’ – one of the world’s richest couples with a fortune of $ 130 billion – announced they would end their 27-year marriage.
In a joint statement posted to their Twitter accounts on Monday, the couple said their work will continue with their foundation, but their marriage will not.
After much thought and work, we made the decision to end our marriage.
Over the past 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and created a foundation that works around the world to empower all people to lead healthy and productive lives.
‘We continue to believe in that mission and will continue to work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe that we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life. ‘
The announcement came less than two weeks after the couple virtually appeared together at an event for health professionals.
Bill, 65, and Melinda, 56, met in 1987 while working at Microsoft, the company he founded. That same year, Bill became the youngest billionaire in the world at the age of 31.
The couple married in Hawaii in 1994 and would start the world’s largest charity, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2000.

Since then, it has contributed more than $ 50 billion to eradicating polio and malaria, among other things. The foundation is also a major investor in coronavirus treatments.
While the couple does not have a marriage contract, it appears that much of the work of dividing their estate – including properties in five states, a private jet, an amazing art collection, and a fleet of luxury cars – has already been done, as their divorce Papers repeatedly refer to a ‘divorce contract’ that both have signed. The contract itself has not been made public.
The documents were submitted by Melinda and obtained from DailyMail.com.
The reason behind their split after more than a quarter of a century remains a mystery, but Melinda has previously suggested that her husband had difficulty reconciling work and family life.
Bill and Melinda Gates have signed a divorce contract – but what is that?
In their divorce filing, Bill and Melinda Gates make it clear that they do not have a prenuptial agreement – but the papers repeatedly refer to a ‘divorce contract’ that will divide their estate.
A divorce contract, or divorce agreement, is a legally binding document drawn up by divorcing couples prior to their split, in which they agree on how to split their lives – including custody and access to children, debt, and property.
It is governed by contract law, which means that either party can sue the other for breach of contract if the agreement is broken.
Signing a divorce contract allows a couple to divide their assets by mutual agreement, rather than going to court.
For the average couple, this means saving money on attorneys’ fees. For Bill and Melinda Gates, it avoids a lengthy, public process that may reveal details about their private lives.
However, a divorce agreement is not necessarily final and a judge can overrule it if he finds the contract unfair to the children involved, unfair to one of the partners, or that a partner has not fully disclosed what assets or income should be divided. .
