With the return of the celebrity series less than a week away, ITV bosses have reportedly secured a sensational line-up of stars for the exciting reboot of the show, which last aired on Channel 5 in August 2018.

And AJ and Will took to Instagram on Monday night to reveal a big change ahead of the launch, as viewers will now vote to save their favorite housemates, rather than evict them.

AJ announced: “Celebrity Big Brother is just around the corner, so we’ve got some big news for you.”

As Will explained: ‘You’ll remember the last Big Brother series you voted to evict. This time for Celeb BB you are voting for your favorite housemate. You are always voting to save.

Reflecting on how this huge change in voting structure will affect the show, AJ continued: “I don’t know how the dynamics within the Big Brother house are going to change or how fans will rally behind their favorite celebrity, but of course! We can’t wait to find out!’

However, not all fans were convinced by the new format and took to the comments section to share their frustration over the change.

One exclaimed: “I never understood why people prefer to vote rather than save.” The guests propose eviction, we should vote the same.’

A second ranted: “I’ve never really understood voting to save – surely they’re called evictions for a reason so the vote should be to evict.”

Another mused, “if voting had been done this way last season, the evictions would have been very different.”

Another angry fan wrote: “I hate voting to save so there’s no way to get the one you want out because you can’t vote for everyone else.”

While another added: ‘I hate voting to save…always have. It’s not how it should be BB, I hate it…so are celebrities too sensitive to be voted out?’

Channel 5 experimented with the ‘save vote’ when Big Brother switched to the network from Channel 4 in 2011.

However, after just two series, show bosses reverted to the “vote to evict” format until the show was finally axed in 2018 before its return to ITV last year.

However, amidst the frustration were some fans who were eager for the change and supported ITV’s decision.

One pleaded: ‘SAVE THIS FOR NORMAL BB TOO!!’ and a second added: ‘Get me to vote to save ON BOTH series please!’
