President Biden’s campaign is mocking former President Trump’s victory speech in Florida after the former president won twelve states on Super Tuesday.
In an appearance on CNN, Biden campaign co-chairman Mitch Landrieu criticized the former president’s comments.
“First of all, I thought he had very little energy tonight,” Landrieu said of the former president.
He also criticized Trump for lying from the podium, saying that most “if not all” of what he said in his Super Tuesday speech was “factually incorrect and demonstrably incorrect.”
He went on to say that Trump’s comments were inaccurate by noting that “if his lips move, he’s lying or he’s delusional.”
Landrieu continued: “17 of his cabinet members resigned… and have begged the United States not to put this guy within 100 meters of the presidency.”
He said the entire speech was “built on a house of lies.”
Landrieu said Biden will continue to talk about it as the campaign progresses.
He was just one of several Biden campaign surrogates who appeared on television throughout the night to take on Trump.
Speaking on CNN, Mitch Landrieu responded to Trump’s speech as “very low energy” and criticized the former president, saying that 17 of his former Cabinet members have resigned and “begged America” not to put Trump “less than 100 meters from the presidency”.
Former President Donald Trump gave a victory speech at Mar-a-Lago’s Grand Ballroom at the end of Super Tuesday as he moved closer to securing the Republican nomination.
Trump gave a victory speech Tuesday night at Mar-a-Lago, where he focused his attention on the general election and taking on President Biden.
But instead of his usual spiteful speeches, Trump appeared much more subdued than at recent campaign rallies, speaking softly and brushing aside some of his usual complaints, although he continued to ridicule Biden.
However, in the less than 20 minutes he spoke, Trump did make a series of false statements about the economy, the border and his first term.
President Biden won Democratic races in 15 states on Super Tuesday. While he did not give a victory speech Tuesday night, his campaign surrogates were on hand to promote the president.
What Landrieu also seemed to take advantage of, in addition to Trump’s comments Tuesday night, was that Trump had previously touted hiring only the “best” people. But during his first term, Trump saw huge turnout from some of his top staff.
Meanwhile, several high-level Trump administration officials have criticized the former president or aHe argued that he should not be re-elected for a second term.
Among them, his former UN ambassador Nikki Haley is running against him in the primary, and his former vice president Mike Pence also ran in the primary before dropping out.
Trump’s former National Security Advisor John Bolton sharply criticized the former president and warned Americans not to elect him. His former attorney general, Bill Barr, has also said Trump should not be president again.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, Navy Secretary Richard Spencer, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, Defense Secretaries James Mattis and Mark Esper, and former Chief of Staff John Kelly, who served under Trump, they have criticized him, among others.
