Biden’s approval score hits 59% by the end of the first 100 days – but the number of Americans who see illegal immigration as a ‘big problem’ has DOUBLED, poll reveals

  • Joe Biden is approaching the 100 days of his presidency with a strong 59 percent approval rating
  • Biden received three-quarters of Americans’ approval to manage the production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines
  • But the percentage of people who cite illegal immigration as a major problem has increased by 20 percentage points – from 28 percent to 48 percent
  • Biden’s 59 percent overall approval score is comparable to that of Barack Obama and George W. Bush in their 100 days and far exceeds Donald Trump’s.

Joe Biden is approaching 100 days of his presidency with a strong 59 percent approval rating, one new Pew poll found, and while most approve of his work on the coronavirus pandemic, there are growing concerns about his handling of the border.

Biden received the approval of three-quarters of Americans – 72 percent – for his government’s management of the production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, the poll found, gaining the majority of approval from both Democrats and the republicans.

His handling of the virus has contributed to his generally high approval rates.

In addition, two-thirds approved Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion COVID aid package, with 49 percent saying it would have a positive effect on their families and only 14 percent thinking it would have a negative effect on them.

The Donald Trump administration also got some credit: 55 percent said the Trump administration had done well developing COVID vaccines. But only 43 percent said Trump had been successful in creating and distributing the vaccines.

Biden’s overall approval score of 59 percent, with his disapproval of 39 percent, is comparable to Barack Obama’s of 61 percent and George W. Bush’s of 55 percent as they approached their own first 100 days in office. And it far exceeds Donald Trump’s 39 percent.

The president’s approval rating also saw a slight rise from Pew’s poll last month, when Biden’s was 54 percent.

The new poll from the Pew Research Center also found that the percentage of people who cite illegal immigration as a major problem has increased by 20 points – from 28 percent to 48 percent.

While most Republicans view immigration as a huge problem – 72 percent – the number of Democrats who see it that way is increasing, to 29 percent from 15 percent.
