On Friday, President Joe Biden again refused to acknowledge the grandchild who is the product of a relationship between his son Hunter and Lunden Roberts, this time at an event celebrating a blockbuster achievement in women’s sports.
The president spoke about the athletes in his own family while celebrating Louisiana State University’s NCAA women’s basketball championship team, with the team and star Angel Reese behind him.
He said “all the real athletes” in his own family were women.
“It’s really nice to see you, since I have four granddaughters, where we had very good athletes. I was not a bad athlete. My brothers were not. All the real athletes of that family were women,” he said.
Biden has seven grandchildren, including five daughters. The fifth, Navy Joan, is Hunter’s daughter. Hunter and his mother are embroiled in a court battle over child support.

He has already paid child support following a DNA test, but argues in court that he has suffered a “substantial material change” in his finances.
Roberts is a former stripper who won a $2.5 million settlement from Hunter after taking him to court in 2019. Their fling together in 2017 coincided with a time when Hunter said he struggled with drugs and alcohol.
The remark came during an event that was cut short when Sa’Myah Smith, a freshman on the team, passed out amid Biden’s remarks.
“She’s fine – it happens a lot,” Biden reassured as a doctor came to attend to the situation.

He and first lady Jill Biden have gushed about the team and its star, after Jill Biden’s remark about inviting both LSU and defeated rival Iowa caused an online spat with Reese.
The game attracted nearly 10 million viewers.
“We saw hope, we saw pride, we saw purpose,” Biden said. He also joked with Reese and said she should play one-on-one at the White House with her cousin, Jordan Hawkins, a member of the winning men’s team at the University of Connecticut.
Biden also failed to acknowledge his seventh grandchild on “take your kid to work” day at the White House.
“I have six grandchildren. And I’m crazy about them. And I talk to them every day. No joke, he said.
