DAN MCLAUGHLIN: Read what Trump said about the shameful pardon of Biden’s ‘crime family’… you’ll never look at Joe the same way again

The last-second timing of the announcement — which was released just minutes before Trump was sworn in and when the crowd, including the outgoing president, was already in the Capitol Rotunda — was an insult to democracy.

Joe Biden saved his greatest shame for last.

On Monday, he granted his three siblings and their two spouses a preventive pardon for any crimes they may have committed over the past decade.

You know, standard stuff.

In reality, it is a final shame for those who supported the man as if he were honest and decent.

It is a final insult to the American people, who are not above the law.

And the last-second timing of the announcement — which was released just minutes before Trump was sworn in and with the crowd, including the outgoing president, already seated in the Capitol Rotunda — was an insult to democracy.

“If you’re going to do it, have the courage to do it in the light of day and explain it to the American people,” CNN’s John King said Monday. “It’s a stain on his legacy to do it this way.”

None of that can be denied. There is virtually no one willing to defend Biden anymore.

But the audience is left to ponder: Why did Joe feel the need to pardon his family? Could it have something to do with his son’s crimes? Could it have something to do with Joe himself?

The ex-president, of course, claims he had no choice but to grant several generations of Biden’s blanket immunity from prosecution.

“My family has been subjected to relentless attacks and threats motivated solely by the desire to hurt me – the worst form of partisan politics.” he said in a statement, echoing the language he used when pardoning Hunter.

Although, of course, it was Biden’s own Justice Department (very reluctantly) that prosecuted Hunter for gun crimes and tax evasion — and a jury that convicted him.

That’s the way it should work.

If Biden really believed that the American justice system was so thoroughly corrupt, why didn’t he do or say anything about it during his four years as president?

There’s something else going on here – and President Donald Trump put his finger on it in an interview on Wednesday.

‘You know what’s funny, maybe sad? He has not pardoned himself. And lo and behold, it all had to do with him,” Trump said.

Indeed, Biden truly forgave himself.

Like the dispensation Joe Hunter gave, the pardons of his siblings and their spouses protect them from prosecution for possible crimes dating back a decade.

We all know why Biden pushed back so far in his clemency: that’s when the family’s foreign influence really took off.

After a lengthy legal battle, the National Archives in December finally released photos showing then-Vice President Biden and Hunter meeting with Chinese businessmen in Beijing in 2013.

Then in 2014, Hunter joined the board of directors of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, began doing business with a Kazakhstani oligarch and was indirectly transferred $3.5 million by Russia’s richest woman, Yelena Baturina.

Business was booming!

More importantly, the trip to Beijing was not the only meeting Joe had with Hunter’s business partners.

A 2023 Republican House investigation found that Joe met with his son’s high-paying clients more than 20 times. And we know – at least some of it – what they paid for.

Hunter’s ex-business partner Devon Archer testified before Congress in 2023 that foreigners, like owners of Ukrainian energy companies, believed they were buying access to the highest echelons of the U.S. government.

It seems likely that Hunter Biden has also, at the very least, violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires Americans to register with the Justice Department when working for foreign entities.

Hunter didn’t register. Neither has members of the Biden family.

Yet House investigators have tracked down between $10 million and $30 million, much of it from shady foreign sources, flowing through 20 different Biden family shell companies over the decades.

Biden’s siblings, along with Hunter, were the primary recipients and conduits for these payments. Jim and Sara passed on hundreds of thousands of dollars to Joe himself, including $40,000 from a Chinese company that Jim registered as repayment of the loan.

Follow the money, they say.

Biden himself needed a pardon.

How fitting that even his last official act was dishonest.
