Illinois men’s basketball had a unique way to celebrate its victory in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

After securing an 89-63 victory over Duquesne to advance to the Sweet 16, the Fighting Illini got into a water gun fight in the locker room.

Every player and staff member participated as Underwood was soaked within seconds.

In the video, graduating guard Marcus Domask ditched the water guns and poured water on his coach with two paper cups.

Senior Terrence Shannon Jr. scored 30 points to lead Illinois in scoring and recorded four rebounds and four assists. Domask came in second place by contributing 22 points with three rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Coleman Hawkins and Quincy Guerrier scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Illinois finished the regular season with a 26-6 record as the second-ranked team in the Big Ten. They opened the NCAA tournament with an 85-69 victory over Morehead State in the first round.

The Fighting Illini have won their last six games and will face Iowa State on March 28.

Illinois broke a seven-year tournament drought in 2021 and has competed every year since. They went out in the second round in 2021 and 2022 before losing in the first round last year.
