Wow, it was worse than expected.

When President Biden limped out to address the nation—37 minutes late and more than five hours after news broke that pro-democracy Russian dissident Alexei Navalny had died in his squalid prison cell—my expectations were already low. .

He began his comments Friday in typically anemic fashion: platitudes about Vladimir Putin and his “thugs” being “responsible” and how this is yet “further proof of his brutality.”

Perhaps the Leader of the Free World had not wanted to upstage the Latvian president, who previously fiercely attacked Putin, firmly stating that Navalny had been “brutally murdered by the Kremlin.”

However, the icing on the stale cake was not what Biden said but what he did not say, or rather, what he apparently I couldn’t.

Cue a Mitch McConnell-style brain freeze, a 10-second blank whine in the middle of one of Biden’s biggest speeches to date.

My goodness, Vlad must be laughing with his blood-soaked Borscht and celebratory vodka.

In 2021, Biden made a bold promise. He said he had personally told Putin, in no uncertain terms, that if Navalny died in prison, there would be “devastating consequences” for Russia.

Yet when pressed by reporters on Friday after his stuttering speech, this was Biden’s surprising response: “That was three years ago.” “Meanwhile (Russia) has faced a lot of consequences.”

To be fair to Old Sleepy, maybe he’s confused. After all, he has been incredibly busy with Presidents Sisi and Mitterrand. Maybe you are thinking about Ukrainewhere almost 400,000 innocent people have lost their lives in recent years thanks Putin illegal war.

What an insane horror show this administration is.

Putin – more grotesque and emboldened than ever – is deceiving us, daring us to throw away the promised cards of retaliation. But of course, Biden’s gavel has long since been exhausted.

Is it any wonder that Joe saved the last drop of fury in his rusty corvette tank not for the murderous Kremlin, but for House Republicans and, you guessed it, Donald Trump?

The exact details of Navalny’s death are largely irrelevant. I doubt we will ever know the truth about Russia.

But we all know that a fit 47-year-old man (who was seen laughing and making jokes just 24 hours ago, whose own mother reported that he was “healthy” and “cheerful” on Monday) doesn’t just drop dead.

We also know that Putin had tried to assassinate Navalny before.

In 2020, an attack with the Novichok nerve agent left Navalny fighting for his life. In 2017, he was hospitalized after being submerged in a noxious green liquid.

Make no mistake: Putin is a modern-day Stalin, a true Hitler, with his chubby fingers on the nuclear button.

A monster that shows no signs of stopping its depraved war against Ukraine. He has happily seen at least 360,000 of his own countrymen massacred in the process.

At home, he rounds up and often kills homosexuals, Muslims and all political dissidents.

In the United States, he has launched failed assassination attempts. In Britain he has achieved it. In space, he is planning a devastating nuclear attack.

In December, Navalny – detained on trumped-up charges – disappeared for three weeks while being transferred to a penal colony 40 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

Rape and torture of prisoners is reported to be common. They are often left outside in freezing conditions, bombarded with water cannons and denied food.

Navalny was reportedly confined in a small concrete cell, with a hole in the floor as a toilet, as guards regularly subjected him to electric shocks.

He was taken to the so-called “punishment cell” 27 times, and Putin demanded live footage of what happened.

So, yes, I can think of more words than “brutality” and brain freeze to describe such inhumanity, Mr. President.

Earlier this week, Putin appeared to “endorse” Biden over Trump, saying he was “more experienced, more predictable… a politician of the old formation.”

Of course!

None of the world’s bullies liked life under the crazy, unpredictable Trump. But thanks to America’s prolonged stay in nursing homes, the bad guys have come out to play.

Putin, Xi, the Taliban and Iran’s ayatollahs have been given the green light to do whatever they want.

And as foolish Biden continues to torpedo one international crisis after another (from Afghanistan to October 7), things will only get worse.

So, at what point do we say enough is enough? The invasion of NATO lands? The fall of Taiwan?

The bar should – has to – be taller.

Biden warned Friday that “history is watching.”

In fact, it is. It’s time to go, Joe. Otherwise, who knows whose scalp will be next.
