President Joe Biden said Saturday night there was no place for “sick” political violence in the United States and said he was grateful that former President Donald Trump was safe.

He addressed the media about two hours after shots were fired at Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

“There is no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s sick,” he said.

‘It’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country.

The president said he was trying to reach Trump, who is believed to be in a hospital near the rally site.

He said the investigation was ongoing and avoided giving a definitive assessment that the attack amounted to attempted murder.

“I have an opinion, but I don’t have facts,” he said in response to a journalist’s question.

“I want to make sure we have all the facts before I comment further.”

He thanked the Secret Service and other agencies.

“The bottom line is that Trump’s rally is a rally that should have been held peacefully without any problems,” he said.

“But the idea that there is political violence or violence like this in the United States is unheard of. It’s not appropriate. Everyone, everyone, should condemn it, everyone.”

His campaign announced it would suspend all communications and seek to withdraw its television ads.

Two hours earlier, pandemonium had gripped a Trump campaign rally.

The former president was in full flight when the shots rang out. Trump grabbed his right ear with his right hand, then lowered his hand to look at it before kneeling behind the podium before Secret Service agents covered him.

Biden issued a statement just before appearing before the cameras.

“I have been informed about the shooting that occurred at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” he said.

“I’m glad to hear he’s safe and well. I’m praying for him and his family and everyone who was at the rally as we await further information.

“Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for bringing him to safety. There is no place for this type of violence in America. We must come together as one nation to condemn it.”
