Joe Biden is now America’s oldest living president, following the death of Jimmy Carter at the age of 100 – having already set the record for the oldest president to ever take office.
Biden turned 82 on November 20, 2024, and questions about his cognitive skills mounted due to his constant blunders.
There are only four other surviving presidents. Donald Trump, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are all 78, while Barack Obama is 63.
President-elect Donald Trump is the second oldest, born in June 1946. George W. Bush is the third oldest, born in July of the same year, while Bill Clinton is the fourth oldest living president as he celebrated his 78th birthday in 1946 fourth. August. Obama turned 63 in August.
Only a handful of former presidents have lived past 90 years, including Ronald Reagan, Carter’s successor, who lived to be 93.
The Carter Library posted a photo of Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn’s visit to President Joe Biden in Georgia in May 2021, with a rather strange perspective that made the Bidens appear to tower over their White House predecessors.

Earlier this year, President Biden was described as “healthy” and “vigorous” and fit for office according to his doctor after his annual physical examination.
White House physician Col. Kevin O’Connor provided an update on Biden’s health amid concerns about his age as he prepares his aborted 2024 run for president.
The results were largely unchanged from his last medical treatment a year ago, except for a lesion on his chest that was sent for cancer screening, and there was no cognitive test despite calls from Republicans.
The president’s annual physical evaluation came as several Republicans — including President Barack Obama’s former doctor — demanded Biden also undergo a cognitive exam, raising fears that he is not mentally fit for office.
Some experts raised concerns that the results of his study were “sugar-coated” and did not take into account cognition and memory problems.
Democrats were secretly concerned but hesitant to raise questions about Biden’s fitness for office. That came to an end after a disastrous debate with newly elected President Trump.

Joe Biden, along with his wife Jill, met former President Carter and his wife Rosalynn in a sweet photo released in May 2021.
In the photo, both Bidens appeared to tower tall over the Carters, who sat on two living room chairs, thanks to a wide-angle lens.
The photo was taken at the Carters’ home in Plains, Georgia, to mark President Biden’s 100th day in office.
After his own presidency ended in 1981, Carter, the 39th president, founded the Carter Center and received the Nobel Prize. He also wrote more than twenty books.
Along with his wife Rosalynn, 96, he remained an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity, the nation’s leading housing charity.
During a 2019 speech ahead of his 95th birthday, Carter was jokingly asked if he wanted to run again.

“I hope there’s an age limit,” Carter replied. “If I were only 80 years old, if I were 15 years younger, I don’t believe I could fulfill the duties that I experienced while I was president.”
America’s founding father, George Washington, was the youngest former president, dying in April 1789 at 57 years and 67 days, almost three years after leaving office.
In 2015, Carter was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma that was detected in his liver and had spread to his brain.
About six months after the diagnosis, he announced he no longer needed treatment, partly because of a breakthrough drug that trains the immune system to fight cancerous tumors.
Two years later, he was hospitalized for dehydration while building homes with Habitat for Humanity in Canada.
He was fired and returned to work the next day.
