President Joe Biden has repeated a lie about traveling 17,000 miles with the Chinese premier in his latest failed speech, where he also referred to the ‘O’Biden’ administration.
The 81-year-old was giving a speech at an event at the White House on Thursday to mark Greek Independence Day when he repeated the false comments.
He repeated the long-debunked claim that he had covered extensive ground during visits with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Biden reiterated the claim while telling an anecdote about how President Xi had once asked him to define the United States.
“Xi Jinping once asked me and I traveled 17,000 miles with him; he was on the Tibetan plateau. He looked at me and said, “can you define America?” He could say the same thing if he asked me to define Greece.

“I said, ‘yes, one word,’ and I mean it sincerely, it’s on the record, I said, ‘possibilities.’
The president likes this statement, which earned him the description of “Bottomless Pinocchio” by the Washington Post. The Post describes the distinction as “false or misleading statements repeated so frequently that they became a form of propaganda.”
The outlet rescinded the statement in 2021 after noting that the president had reiterated it about 21 times.
Biden has repeatedly used the 17,000 mile figure to exemplify the work he has done to foster a relationship with President Xi.
The White House has never explained the figure. If Biden’s trips with Xi are added, on the same plane or vehicle, they are much less than 17,000. If you count his trips to meet Xi, there are more.
However, the statement was not the only gaffe during the speech, which included an embarrassing moment in which the octogenarian referred to the ‘O’Biden administration’ instead of Obama.
Confusion ensued when Biden stumbled over his words, prompting laughter from the crowd before he righted himself.
The Washington Post debunked the claim in 2021, showing that the 17,000 figure was either an overestimate or an underestimate and the White House refused to confirm.
During the same gaffe-filled speech on Thursday, Biden also accidentally referred to his time as vice president as the “O’Biden administration.”
The errors are the latest in a series of embarrassing incidents for the president, who was recently forced to deny a scathing Justice Department report that found he has “diminished faculties and a defective memory.”
The long-awaited investigation into his mishandling of classified documents yielded a damning assessment of the president’s abilities.
Although the report did not recommend filing charges, it provided a cascade of damaging conclusions about the files found in Biden’s garage, as well as the president’s fitness for office.
In interviews with investigators, Biden was confused about the dates he was vice president and couldn’t even remember the year his son Beau died.
Meanwhile, a DailyMail.com poll found that only 38 percent of likely 2024 voters believe Biden will be alive at the end of another four-year term.
But in his State of the Union address, the president appeared to use his advanced age to his advantage.
“I’ve been told I’m too old,” he said. ‘Whether young or old, I have always known… what lasts. I know our North Star: the very idea of America is that we are all created equal.
