BGT: Amanda and Alesha in TEARS at choir Sign Along With Us while receiving the FIRST golden buzzer

The first episode of the new series Britain’s Got Talent started Saturday night and it’s fair to say it was an emotional one.

Ten acts hit the stage hoping to impress judges, but it was Sign Along With Us that came out on top when they left Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon in tears with their heartbreaking rendition of This Is Me from The Greatest Dancer.

And their audition got the jury so excited that David Walliams pressed his golden buzzer for the act, the very first in the series.

At the beginning of the performance, 18-year-old Jade and her baby brother Christian, four, took to the stage where Jade revealed that she was teaching her brother to draw after doctors warned that he wouldn’t be able to communicate.

She told the judges, “We were told Christian would never be able to communicate. I taught him sign language so he could speak and he’s here, a little miracle proving everyone is wrong. ‘

Later in the VT she added, “I didn’t want to accept that Christian would never be able to communicate, I just knew it had a voice that wanted to come out.”

Jade went on to say that others wanted to learn sign, so she took a lesson and that’s how Sing Along With Us was born.

Also in the video was 12-year-old Ella who met Simon Cowell earlier when he presented her with a Child of Courage award at the 2019 Pride of Britain awards, with the youngster saying ‘It was a dream come true’ to be on the show.

The chorus, consisting of 37 children and 28 adults ranging in age from four to 58 years old, then took to the stage with a colorful array of T-shirts printed with ‘This Is Me’, with each member’s face painted with a rainbow.

As the group distributed the emotional number, several members of the audience were moved by the performance, no more than Alesha and Amanda.

The pair were seen with tears streaming down their faces as they clapped to the music, while Simon and David, as well as hosts Ant and Dec, were also touched.

After the song, Sing Along With Us received a standing ovation from the audience and from all four judges.

Amanda said afterwards, “That song is such a folk song for people who may not be part of anything. It was really moving, it was absolutely beautiful. ‘

While a tearful Alesha added, “I really can’t find the words,” an audience replied, “Great!” Called out. Alesha nodded in agreement.

She added, “And Christian, you’re a little star, so thank you.”

Simon then quickly recognized his friend Ella in the choir and said, “I confess, I have a friend in this choir, Ella. We met in the Pride of Britain and I heard Ella singing and I said one day I feel like you are going to audition at one of our shows and guess what? You are here!’

He continued, “You say” This is me “and I think” You are us “because you define what this show should be about. This is an audition that I will never forget. ‘

Finally David said, “Each of you gave everything to this performance, it was a great, positive message for people out there and all I can say is …”

He then got out of his seat and, to everyone’s delight, pressed his golden buzzer and dropped a shower of golden ticker tape on the stage.

The award left the choir elated and many members shed tears as the judges were back on their feet.

As David walked to the stage to greet the act, Ant and Dec saw some of the kids making “snow angels” with the glitter, and Ant added, “That’s how you celebrate!”

At a sweet moment, Ant and Dec joined in on the fun, encouraging some others to make angels with them.

Simon quickly took to the stage to the great Ella, where she revealed that she had painted a picture for him.

As she introduced him to his photo, Simon joked that the artwork made him more beautiful than in real life.

Ella then said, “I took that picture for you so you can keep it forever, so you don’t forget me.”

To which Simon hugged her and replied, “I will never forget you.”

Later, looking back at the audition, Amanda said, “David, that was the perfect buzzer. It was life affirming and joyful. It was just great and they sounded great. ‘
