Beyoncé has added another string to her bow with the launch of a new brand of whiskey that costs $79 a bottle and which she has called SirDavis, with an outrageous price tag.
The 42-year-old singer has announced the launch of the American whiskey made in collaboration with Moët Hennessy and master distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden.
The whiskey’s name honors Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a successful moonshine distiller who lived in the American South during the Prohibition era.
The mother-of-three revealed how her grandfather would hide bottles of his drink in trees growing on his farms for loved ones to find.
She said: “I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling.”

“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a spirit distiller, I felt that my love of whisky was predestined. Sir Davis is a way of paying tribute to him and uniting us through a new shared legacy.
“By partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have created a delicious American whiskey that respects tradition, but also allows people to experience something new and unique in its category. You can taste it better than you could ever imagine. Welcome, Sir Davis.”
The whiskey nods to Beyoncé’s Texas roots with a horse emblem on the bottle and the drink was also finished, blended and bottled in the Lone Star State.
“Here the complexity of rye is combined with the elegance of malted barley. Finished to perfection in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, a harmony of spices with sublime hints of fruit,” reads a description of the liqueur on its website.
Lumsden said of his latest venture: “With SirDavis, we are looking to challenge the category norms and offer something new in the space,” he explained in a press release.
‘The distinctive grain selection and unusual secondary maturation in sherry casks helped us achieve a unique and utterly exclusive SirDavis profile of bold sophistication.’
The drink generated critical acclaim long before its launch. Last year, it was submitted anonymously to several elite spirits competitions, the press release said.
Beyoncé posted several steamy snaps promoting the spirit on her Instagram on Tuesday, featuring photos of herself in a lace dress.
