Beyoncé has submitted her album Cowboy Carter to the Grammy Awards in the country category.

Texas Hold ‘Em singer, 43, debuts album in genre, sources said TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday.

Beyoncé had previously submitted her 2016 song Daddy Lessons from her hit album Lemonade into contention in the country categories, but was not nominated.

The performance comes after the superstar music artist did not receive any CMA Awards nominations; and it also didn’t win out of 12 nominations at the People’s Choice Country Awards last week.

Beyoncé, who has won 32 Grammy Awards with 88 nominations in his careerhas never received a country nomination. It showed its crossover appeal in 2017, when Lemonade was nominated for honors in four genres: rock, rap, R&B and pop.

The Recording Academy uses the services of about “350 volunteer music industry experts” to give their opinions on how content should be classified, THR reported, and complications arise when material reflects multiple genres.

Last year, industry experts were divided over how her album Renaissance would be classified, ultimately placing it in the dance category, where it emerged victorious.

Reactions to Beyoncé’s performance for the upcoming awards season were divided among fans, with some thinking the singer made the best country album of the year and others not.

One user declared: ‘Queen Bey is taking over Nashville! Beyoncé for the country’s victory!’ while another predicted: “Beyoncé will be the winner, mark my words.”

One user said: “I need her to win this principle.” The genre is about bending. Yes, it is a country… but it is also a testament to the long line of inspiration that country has engulfed. “It’s not about Beyoncé, it’s about rewarding art without limits.”

Another said: ‘Good news! I’m so happy for her! I hope he takes home the win for this amazing album!’

One user predicted: “She’s 100% going to get snubbed. This will be Beyoncé’s project with the fewest Grammys, if she wins any.”

People who didn’t feel the album deserved the honors included one person who said that Cowboy Carter “wasn’t a country album, it’s just dressing up as one.”

Another said, “Jay-Z buys them awards like always,” adding, “We all know he can’t buy the REAL CMA.”

Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, said TMZ on September 9 that the CMA snub of his daughter’s album, released on March 29, “speaks for itself.”

And he added: ‘There are more white people in the United States and unfortunately they do not vote based on their ability and achievements; Sometimes it’s still a black and white thing.’

Knowles noted that amid the “current state of American culture… there is no accountability for the fact that people don’t accept other cultures.”

Last month, Dolly Parton came to the defense of the Country Music Association after it received criticism for omitting Beyoncé as a nominee.

The 78-year-old music legend spoke with Variety in an interview published on September 17 in which he was asked about the surprising development involving the superstar artist.

“Well, you never know,” the Pittman Center, Tennessee-born icon told the outlet. “There are so many wonderful country artists who, I guess probably in the country music field, probably thought, well, we can’t really leave out some of the ones who spend their entire lives doing that.”

The Jolene artist continued, “But I didn’t even realize that until someone asked me that question.”

Parton said she thought Cowboy Carter “was a wonderful album” that Beyoncé “can be very, very proud of.”

The 9 to 5 singer added that she thinks “everyone in country music received it and thought that was good.” and that he didn’t feel that Beyoncé was intentionally snubbed for her foray into the country genre.

“I don’t think it was a matter of opting out, like doing it on purpose,” Parton said. “I think it was more of what chart-toppers and country artists did, they do that all the time, not just a special album.”

Parton continued, “I’ve been lucky enough to be on both albums.” Well, Jolene was on Beyoncé and I thought it was a great album.

The Islands in the Stream artist cited Beyoncé’s background, saying, “She’s a country girl in Texas and Louisiana, so she grew up with that foundation.” It wasn’t like it appeared out of nowhere.

Parton said she was “open to anything” in terms of a possible collaboration with Beyoncé.

Beyoncé’s history with the CMAs before the controversial nominations were announced earlier this month included a 2016 collaboration with The Chicks of the song Daddy Lessons, which sparked a series of racist reactions online.

The CMAs will air on November 20, 2024 at 8/7c.
