Dramatic video has captured the terrifying moment a car plunged over the edge of a motorway overpass into the path of oncoming traffic.
Dashcam footage shows the white Nissan SUV plunging head-on onto the M5 motorway at Bexley North, south of Sydney, at 4.50pm on Thursday.
Emergency services were called to the M5 motorway to treat the male driver who was rushed to St George’s Hospital in a serious condition.
Miraculously, other drivers on the highway managed to avoid the Nissan SUV.
In a statement, New South Wales Police said officers responded to the scene of the crash “after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash” on Thursday.
Australians were quick to respond to the video after it was uploaded to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page the following day.
“I was in the tunnel when it happened, they started announcing it in the tunnel and luckily I got to the Princess Highway exit before the traffic built up,” one said.
“How lucky, it could have been worse if it had fallen on another car.”
