Lifetime Isas

You can use a Lifetime Isa to buy your first home or save for the future. You must be 18 or older but under 40 to open one.

You can contribute up to £4,000 each year, until you are 50 years old. The government will add a 25 per cent bonus to your savings, up to a maximum of £1,000 a year.

Dear saver,

These are Money savings tables that are unique. They are independent and suppliers do not have to pay to be listed, as can be the case on comparison sites.

They are completely unbiased – we simply show the best rates out there and providers cannot pay to move up the rankings.

The only way to get to the top of the table is by offering him a better deal.

We will include accounts with decent bonuses and withdrawal restrictions, but we will always mark them.

If you’re looking for a true easy access account, you should consider avoiding those with strict withdrawal limits before the rate drops.

It’s also worth looking into a flexible Isa, which can be a great tax-beating tool, allowing you to withdraw money and pay it back during the same tax year without eating up your precious annual Isa allowance.

All banks and building societies are registered with the Financial Services Authority and subscribe to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, either directly (protecting up to £85,000) or through their passport scheme (where the compensation limit depends on the country of origin of the bank. In Europe it is €100,000).

If you have any questions about the tables, please email editor@thisismoney.co.uk putting Savings Tables in the subject line.

And don’t forget to sign up for This is Money’s Savings Alerts to be the first to know about the best rates when they arrive.
