Rising demand for bespoke Rolls-Royce limousines has prompted a £300m expansion of its factory in West Sussex.
The automaker delivered 5,712 cars to customers in 2024, the third-highest annual sales figure on record behind 6,032 in 2023 and 6,021 in 2022.
But while deliveries declined year on year, a record proportion of the total was made to order, and highly customized vehicles sold well above their base price.
The haul included a specially commissioned Arcadia limousine which cost £25 million and is believed to be the most expensive car in the world.
Expansion: Rolls-Royce to invest £300m in its West Sussex factory amid growing demand for bespoke luxury vehicles
With more all-electric models set to join Specter in Rolls-Royce’s line-up by 2030, the company said global sales present “a balanced picture”, led by North America and Europe, but with a decline in China.
Rolls-Royce said its 2024 performance was “in line with the brand’s forecasts and expectations” given the introduction of a record four new models in 2024.
The company said the £300 million investment in the Goodwood plant will create additional space for more customized models.
Rolls-Royce will also prepare the boutique factory for the brand’s transition to electric with a second electric vehicle due to launch this year.
