Friends of a man killed in a workplace tragedy say he was the sole family support for his wife in Melbourne and his parents in India.
Adarsh Rajput died in a horrific work accident at a construction site on Santorini Parade in Berwick, 47km southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, around 1pm on Friday March 1.
The 28-year-old man was working alone to unload timber when the crane’s arm, called a jib, suddenly crushed him, inflicting fatal injuries.
Mr Rajput’s friend Arshdeep Singh has now created a GoFundMe page to help his family cover funeral and ceremonial costs.
“He left behind a wife and his parents,” Mr Singh said. “He was the sole breadwinner of his family.”

Mr Rajput moved to Australia four years ago with his wife, seeking “a better future like everyone else”, Mr Singh said.
“As he had a temporary visa, he worked hard to make every dollar count to make ends meet.
WorkSafe is investigating the incident, which was the eighth workplace death in Victoria so far this year, compared to 13 at the same time in 2023.
