A family of three were left devastated after their beloved ‘Poppa’ died in a tragic bicycle accident while on holiday in Bali.
Bernard Daniel Fritz, 73, was found dead in Bangli Village, Baturiti Subdistrict in Tabanan Regency, at around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday.
Tabanan police said Bernard reportedly died after losing control of the bicycle he was riding and collapsing in a farmland next to the road.
The 73-year-old man was found unconscious by locals who helped transfer his body to a vehicle that took him to the Baturiti 1 Public Health Center.
Sadly, medical staff confirmed Bernard’s death shortly after arriving.

Catherine Fritz shared a series of tender photos of her father-in-law and granddaughter
Bernard appears in the photo reading a bedtime story to his granddaughter.
“The medical team at the health center explained that there are no signs of violence on the victim’s body,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
“He only has several bruises on his forehead and nose.”
Police said Bernard’s son, Aaron Daniel Fritz, told authorities that his father had no history of heart disease.
Aaron’s wife, Yofita Katherine Fritz, shared a series of photos of her father-in-law on her Instagram following his sudden death.
‘RIP Dad…we miss you so much,’ he wrote.
Aaron and Catherine are pictured with their daughter Charis in happier times.
Included in the sweet series were several photos of Bernard holding his young granddaughter Charis and reading her a bedtime story.
Catherine revealed that one of the photographs of her and her young daughter had been taken by Bernard just “minutes” before his death.
“What took dad a few minutes before, I can’t,” he wrote.
Bernard’s body has been transferred to the Dharma Tadnya funeral home in Denpasar, about 25 kilometers south of Tabanan Regency.
