A Bondi cafe that launched its popular cookie dough mix in Woolworths stores sold out in just one day.

Bennett St Dairy is known for serving specialty coffees and fresh food, but its prepackaged cookie dough has become the cafe’s cult favorite among customers.

Co-founder James Meek, 38, told Daily Mail Australia he received the ‘unexpected’ phone call from Woolworths earlier this year to discuss a possible collaboration trial.

He said interest was likely sparked after the cafe began stocking the 500-gram packets of cookie dough at smaller retailers, including Romeo’s IGA.

Customers can choose from the Original Cookie Dough or White Chocolate and Macadamia Dookie Cough for $13 for 500g.

The huge piece of cookie dough makes between eight small to one giant cookie, so customers can decide for themselves how big or small they want the cookies.

At the participating Woolworths stores, James said the cafe sold 300 packets of cookie dough a week.

“We were surprised by the response because we’re not a huge marketing machine, we’re just a small company,” James said.

“But we are grateful for the support from our loyal Sydney customers.”

Last year, the company introduced a delivery service at the start of the Covid-19 crisis after James and his business partner Cliff Baskin, 34, shared a post on Instagram saying they were selling excess cookie dough.

The company sold 100 kilograms of dough in just two hours and quickly decided to offer the new delivery service to customers.
