Williams wrote on social media that he came from Gulgong but had moved to the area with his friend just a week earlier from nearby Dubbo and had also spent time in Mudgee.

Officers made the grisly discovery after a passerby contacted them about the smell coming from the container.

Emergency services were called to the property on Goolma Road, Gulgong, about 30 kilometers north of Mudgee, about 11am on Saturday.

Both deceased were known to have a history of drug use and police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Williams’ partner Jason Britton has paid tribute to him on Facebook.
