A young woman is hospitalized with injuries all over her body after being allegedly tortured, assaulted, burned and scalded by a couple who were staying at her house.

Sally-Anne Schultz, 29, was allegedly attacked in her unit in Benalla, a rural town in Victoria’s High Country region, on the evening of August 12.

Mother Wendy Schultz says her daughter is in “excruciating pain” after allegedly being tortured before managing to escape through a window and flee to a neighbour’s home for help.

Ms Schultz was flown from Wangaratta to Melbourne with burns to her head, neck, arms, hands and chest after allegedly having boiling water poured over her, as well as fractures to her ribs, upper spine and temple.

Her mother revealed that Sally-Anne had let the homeless couple stay in her unit several times over the past year before the alleged attack.

She allegedly escaped by running out of a bedroom window while the couple were in the kitchen to allegedly boil the kettle for a third time during the ordeal.

“She said they had her trapped in her bedroom,” her mother said in a statement. GoFundMe appeal.

‘When they both entered the kitchen and were boiling the kettle for the third time, she managed to escape through her bedroom window and call a neighbour for help.

The 29-year-old woman (pictured) was rushed to Wangaratta Aerodrome where she was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in central Melbourne for treatment.

‘With the injuries he had already suffered, his survival instinct kicked in and he knew it was his only chance to get out of there.

‘I’m so proud of her for overcoming unbearable pain that probably saved her life.

‘Sally had to have skin grafts using her own skin from her thigh and will now be scarred for life in many places and will most likely need to get a wig.

“She is very traumatized by all this and does not want to go home. She has a long road ahead of her to recovery.”

Victoria Police confirmed two people have been arrested in connection with the alleged assaults.

“Police have arrested a man and a woman following alleged assaults in Benalla on August 12,” a spokesman said.

‘Investigators were told the pair assaulted a woman at an address on Ballintine Street at around 3.30pm before leaving the address and assaulting a man at a property on Jenson Court.

Investigators believe that all those involved knew each other.

‘A 34-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, have been charged with assault-related offences.

‘They have been summoned to appear before Shepparton Magistrates Court on November 7.’
