Ben White selected as England replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold as Brighton centre-back makes Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for Euro 2020 for James Ward-Prowse… fearing Harry Maguire’s condition
Brighton centre-back Ben White has been selected as the man to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for the European Championship.
The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Sunday’s final warm-up game against Romania and impressed the manager after helping the team keep a clean sheet.
And it looks like he did enough to earn a place in the squad after it was confirmed he’d knocked out players like Jesse Lingard and James Ward-Prowse to last spot.

White’s inclusion comes after Liverpool fullback Alexander-Arnold suffered an injury in England’s first warm-up match against Austria earlier this week.
The 22-year-old tore his quad and will miss six weeks of action, leaving him heartbroken after battling a recall to earn his place in the European Championship squad.
White, meanwhile, is celebrating his inclusion in the latter roster after making his England debut earlier this week.

James Ward-Prowse will also leave the group before the tournament starts this week

Ollie Watkins and Ben Godfrey are among the other players to miss the final 26-man roster, having made the top 33 selected by Southgate.
There are now just six days until England’s first game of the tournament, when they face Croatia at Wembley on Sunday.
